Latin Women Streoytypes

A quick google search of “latin females streoytypes” brings up images of scantily- clad olive tanned, crow haired, crimson- lipped, curvaceous women. This fetishization of Latinas in the internet is n’t just embarrassing, but it also has serious implications. It exacerbates belittling and can lead to intolerance. It can even promote dating violence and increase sexual harassment of younger people.

The otherness and fetishizing of latina systems turns them into simple objects to be won and showcased. This is not to say that there are n’t some positive stereotypes of latina women, but the majority of portrayals in our mediascape leave out a whole community This typecasting of latinas can control their ability by internalizing the graphic that community puts back of them.

Likewise, these prejudices may become dangerous to immigrant communities because they can power extra- immigrant attitudes and reinforce the idea that Latinas do n’t belong in the workforce or contribute to the economy. It’s important to write Latina figures who are intelligent, driven, and successful. But it’s just as important to write them with flaws, also.

Using a social determinants of health construction, this research explores household planning perspectives and experiences among 16 Latinas recruited from two officially qualified healthcare centers in Baltimore City, Maryland.
